Reflexology is a great treatment for easing mental stress and depression, improving circulation, cleansing and revitalising the body and balancing the whole system. Based on the knowledge of Acupressure, it is a method of activating the healing powers of the body through manipulation of pressure points in the feet, working on the principle of energy zones and reflex areas in the foot, which directly correspond to areas and organs of the body. Working on the feet with massage techniques, you can work on a problem area of the body, which may not be treatable directly.
As well as being a fantastic way to wind down and switch of after a busy working day, reflexology can also be useful in preventing illness as it helps to improve the immune system. It is even possible to pick up potential problems, which you may not have otherwise been aware of and, as such, can act as an early warning for anything which may need further attention.
Of many problems which reflexology can help with, the most common is IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) which is often stress related and very uncomfortable. I have had great success with people suffering this condition, as the digestive system is an area worked quite thoroughly with reflexology. It can help to relax the muscles of the bowel and improve digestion, reducing discomfort and regulating the passage of food in the system.
Specific techniques can also be added into treatments to stimulate the endocrine system (which governs the hormones) and bring about better balance, aiding fertility and easing symptoms of PMS and menopause.*

Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage (RLD)
A new reflexology technique to stimulate the lymphatic reflexes, causing an effect on the body’s lymphatic system. It is a unique sequence researched and developed by Sally Kay BSc(Hons) whilst working in cancer care, giving some amazing results in reducing excess fluid in the limbs, ideal for conditions such as lymphodema, where massage may be contra-indicated directly on the problem area. Though research is ongoing, it is also showing encouraging improvements in many conditions such as arthritis, asthma, fibromyalgia and ME.
